"I pride myself on living a very healthy, athletic, active life. Working out daily either in the gym, yoga studio, simply taking a walk or hike keeps me grounded as well as productive. My mornings begin early with affirmations, reflection and setting goals for the day. This life-style has allowed me to accomplish a great deal. I thrive on challenges, setting goals, and identifying creative avenues to increase revenue, and improve efficiencies allowing me to meet or exceed my goals."
Personal History
I was born in a small town, Streator, Illinois. My parents came from very low-income families but had the drive and determination to be very successful. At the age of five my family moved to San Diego, Ca. Their strong work ethic was instilled in me at a young age. By the age of fifteen I had saved $2K working in my parent’s liquor stores to go towards my first car.
During College I worked as a personal shopper in Bullocks stores and later was made the youngest key holding supervisor in Ross Stores. I graduated with a business management degree. At 26, I was a partner in a High-Style furniture store. A preferred client owned a very chic and trendy Restaurant in Pt. Loma. She lured me away to manage her restaurant despite the fact of having very little restaurant experience. Soon after I co-designed the remodel of the restaurant, bar and patio’s and began offsite catering and floral design increasing sales upwards to 30%. My nearly 5 years there was a priceless experience for what was to follow.
In 1997 I moved to South Beach Miami and partnered with a very successful catering company Trillium fine foods. We worked with modeling agencies and the very wealthy. I hosted Senator Ted Kennedy at a Democratic fundraiser, assisted Ivana Trump in a fundraiser for leukemia, and did florals for Madonna, Oprah and Whitney Houston.
I returned to San Diego and started my own event planning and catering business. Some years later I moved to Palm Springs buying, renovating and selling real estate.
The Turning Point
After a volunteer vacation in Costa Rica, I was compelled to spend several months there and make a difference in a beautiful small mountain village. I adopted the village, raised money and recruited volunteers to build animal production farms, bathrooms, and brought electricity to some of the village homes. We were able to save the village school from closing. Between personal donations and fundraising efforts $25K has been raised thus far!
Much of the last four years was spent living in Buenos Aires. I was a volunteer English Teacher and created their first ever circuit event, “Circuit for Charity”. It was in-conjunction with a S.American cruise disembarkation. I hosted over 2k guests for 14 events of dinners, shows and dance parties. The scope of my work included: producing and directing the main event, which included Cirque performances and Victoria Wilson James as the headline performer, creating a program for the merchants to donate a portion of their profits to the charities, creating sales incentive package for advertising in my map, fliers and search optimized web site that I designed to highlight the restaurants, tourist-sites, activities and shops. It was an event more spectacular than Buenos Aires has ever seen. The web site averaged over 400 hits per week in the two months prior to the event! I orchestrated a staff of over 200 during the weekend. Buenos Aires News thanked, praised and congratulated me for efforts in creating the events and increasing revenues for the local businesses.
I have also been interviewed on Public Broadcast Costa Rica, and had appearances on a number of special interest television programs.
Over the years I have had the good fortune to travel to: Italy, Greece, France, Monaco, England, Spain, Central and South America, throughout Mexico and most of the United States. Each adventure taught me something, including how to communicate, appreciate and interact comfortably with people from every walk of life, from poor villagers to the rich and famous.
I have a passion for travel and love being on the water! I thrive on challenges, setting and achieving goals and creating avenues to accomplish more and increase revenue in the most efficient ways.
